Possessing boundless reserves of ardent energy and infectious groove, widely acclaimed artists Tony Monaco and Fareed Haque join forces to light up the stage with their hard-hitting organ trio.

Fareed Haque is a modern guitar virtuoso. Steeped in classical and jazz traditions, his unique command of both the guitar and different musical styles inspires his musical ventures along the lines of tradition and fearless innovation. Since 2011, Haque has returned to his first loves: jazz guitar and classical guitar. He has been busy performing and recording with his trio featuring legendary Hammond B-3 virtuoso Tony Monaco, his own jazz trio and quartet, as well as his larger world music group the Flat Earth Ensemble. Recent releases include the critically acclaimed Out of Nowhere featuring drummer Billy Hart and bassist George Mraz, the Flat Earth Ensemble’s latest release Trance Hypothesis, and the Tony Monaco/Fareed Haque Trio release Furry Slippers that reached the top 10 in jazz radio airplay.

Tony Monaco may be the best organ player you have yet to hear of, flying stealthily while playing arguably some of the hottest B-3 around. Mentored by the legendary Jimmy Smith in what is considered the more classic style, Monaco does not swing, smolder, or smoke—he burns! Monaco began his keyboard life at age eight, and his destiny as a jazz organist was sealed at age 12 when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student, Monaco began working in jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus, Ohio, guided by local organ gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. Four years later, Jimmy Smith invited Monaco to come play at his club in California, a peak lifetime experience for Tony.

In April 2000, Monaco met fellow jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco, who offered to produce a debut CD for him. This collaboration resulted in the critically acclaimed Burnin’ Grooves. The international success of this recording served as the catalyst for regional and national tours. Monaco has since released eight records internationally and toured around the globe many times, including a two-year association with Pat Martino.

The Tony Monaco/Fareed Haque Trio has been working consistently since their meeting at the Java Jazz Fest in 2014. The Trio has headlined many festivals including the Java Jazz Fest, Detroit Jazz Fest, Chicago Jazz Fest, Columbus Jazz Fest, Lafayette Jazz Fest, South Bend Jazz Fest, and many others, including a performance at The Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, Chicago. Club appearances include such legendary venues as Blue Note (NYC), Jazz at Lincoln Center (NYC), Green Mill (Chicago), Dazzle (Denver), and many more.
