Colorado Symphony presents Ensemble Faucheux at Dazzle for an evening of contemporary music for viola, cello, and djembe. The performance will feature Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw’s Limestone & Felt for viola and cello, Brazilian composer Marcos Balter’s atmospheric solo viola work Ut, and Christian Woehr’s Djembach: a suite of Bach-inspired and Middle East-influenced music for viola and djembe.
Ensemble Faucheux is dedicated to addressing marginalization by celebrating difference and drawing people together through community-based music performances, workshops, commissioning new work, and special projects. Learn more at ensemblefaucheux.org.
Catherine Beeson is Assistant Principal Viola for the Colorado Symphony and has been involved in their social impact programming since 1999. She is the Artistic Director of Loon Lake Live and also a Creative Consultant for Friends of Chamber Music, curating special programming at Syntax Physic Opera and the Clyfford Still Museum.
Cellist Allison Drenkow has been playing with the Colorado Symphony since 2018. In recent years Drenkow was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall with Music for Life International alongside members of the Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony, and more.
John Kinzie joined the Colorado Symphony as Principal Percussionist in 1985. He was previously the Principal Percussionist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, he became the head of the percussion division at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
