Friday Lunch Bunch with Purnell Steen & The Five Points Ambassadors

Show Description

For over 30 years, Purnell Steen and the Five Points Ambassadors has been dedicated to preserving and playing the Jazz and Blues music of Denver’s legendary Five Points neighborhood and is a regular at Dazzle.

In September 2022, the Ambassadors spent a week playing and lecturing in Denver’s Sister City, Brest, France, as part of our cultural exchange.

The band has performed for many dignitaries, including the 2008 National Convention, playing for the Clintons and other notables. Purnell is a cousin to Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, George Duke, 5-time Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves, and legendary bassist Charlie Burrell.

One of Denver’s favorite musical theatre vocalist, Dwayne Carrington, will mesmerize you with his renditions of Nat King Cole’s biggest hits, accompanied by the amazing Martha Yordy on piano. Pamela Clifton & LuAnn Buckstein bring some laughs to this entertaining lunch hour show featuring trivia, improv and contests (Prizes!) Come join the fun, it will be “UNFORGETTABLE”.

Novo Coffee was founded in 2002 by Jake, Joe, and Herb Brodsky with the mission to connect great coffee producers with coffee consumers. Over twenty years, three cafes, and a number of wholesale partners later, we’re still working towards that goal.

Novo Coffee is relationship-focused: we seek to build ongoing, meaningful partnerships with producers and coffee farmers. By cultivating these relationships, we can purchase from the same farms year after year, helping to improve farmers’ pricing and enhancing the coffee quality.

Novo Coffee is a relationship-based coffee company. We build ongoing relationships with coffee producers and farmers. Purchasing from the same farms year after year helps improve farmers’ pricing, and in turn, the quality of the coffee.

We purchase our coffees in a number of ways; sometimes coffee comes from brokers or importers, and other times, we deal directly with the producer. Transparency all along the coffee chain allows us to make sure the coffee producers are getting the best prices for their coffees.

We want to connect one end of the coffee chain to the other for the sake of quality. We want to connect people on the producing end with people on the consuming end. In other words: “Get Closer.”

Novo coffee classes: Our classes are designed for a range of experiences – from the new coffee enthusiast to the coffee professional. Our thoughtfully designed courses combine foundational information in a lecture format with hands-on experience.

Our course offerings include expertise on coffee origins and how to evaluate flavors, extraction theory and brewing techniques, how to steam milk and pour basic latte art, and how to make great tasting espresso at home or in a commercial setting. In addition to our regularly scheduled classes, we offer private group tours, and on-site training for wholesale clients.

July Vendor of the Month: Denver Chip Co.

Denver Chip Co. is a Denver-made, family-owned arm of The Broad Ripple Chip Co, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their all-natural, handmade artisan chips are made from Idaho Russet potatoes, which result in larger, slightly darker chips that are richer in flavor. These lightly-seasoned chips are super crunchy and have more true potato flavor than factory-made chips, which use bland white potatoes, and may be months old when you purchase them.

Every step of their process is done by hand: selection, slicing, seasoning and packaging. Their chips are made in small batches in pure, heart-healthy canola oil and delivered fresh. They contain no preservatives, no trans fats, no MSG, no GMOs, and are gluten free.

Dazzle Named A Denver Legacy Business

City of Denver celebrates longstanding, independent business that have contributed to community character and vitality and hold cultural significance

DENVER – Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) has announced 37 businesses that have most recently received Legacy Business status. A Denver Legacy Business is defined as a longstanding, independent business that has contributed to community character and vitality and holds cultural significance. Among other criteria, the business has operated for more than ten years, has annual gross revenue between $30,000 and $5M, and currently has a brick-and-mortar location in the city. 

Dazzle owners Chad Schneider and Matt Ruff recently attended a Legacy Business reception to honor all the new members added to the Legacy Business roster. Dazzle is proud to join these other great Denver businesses in making Denver the great city that it is. Congratulations Chad & Matt for making Dazzle a success all these years! (and of course, former owner Donald Rossa)

This program is modeled after other successful implementations of Legacy Business designations in San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX. Businesses can self-nominate or be nominated by others.  Denver’s program will continue to expand with future application periods and rounds of honorees announced.
