Veronica Sare – The quest for a real wedding

Couple’s Love Song: Fools Rush In – UB40

Our story begins 24 years ago when my husband and I met, in maybe not the most traditional way. We both shared a mutual friend and decided to give a call one day. We shared an instant attraction and talked as much as we could for 3 months, until we decided to meet at the old Elitches. The next day we could not believe that life could continue without the other, and Robert got on one knee and proposed over the phone. We dated for the next 4 years, breaking up, getting back together and proposing a couple more times in between.
When I was 18, just a couple month’s past that, we decided that it was best for us to get married and get out of the abusive relationship that I was in. I then moved in with Robert and that was not good enough either, and on 3/26/98 we went to the Denver Courthouse and got married, with only Robert’s mother in attendance. It was rough, dealing with real life and how to cope with it. On top of that we were informed that we were not able to bear our own children (great last words).
Unbeknownst to us 6 years later we got news from an ER doctor that we had a peanut coming! We cried the whole day and was in shock in a good way to find out that we could indeed have children and our marriage got a whole lot stronger. Over the next year, we tried to have more children and succeeded! 2 ½ years later, we gave birth to our second son. We did have a miscarriage after that and it tore us up. My husband and I have always wanted to have a traditional wedding and have thought about it for every mile stone that we have hit. But life kept happening and then we ended up getting another miracle son and for the last 6 years have been through the roughest time of our lives. But we made it together and came out stronger than ever! We even made it past mile stones that people who were nay sayers said we would never make.
This year is our 20 year anniversary and want to not get postponed anymore and finally do it, and we saw this post come up on our FB page and thought what a blessing if we actually we able to finally have a traditional wedding, a dream come true.
