Colleen Gridley – Love Never Fails
Couple’s Love Song: In the Air by Phil Collins
I met the love of my life in May of 2003. Jay’s wife of 20 years was killed in an auto accident in 2002. The man I was dating was also killed in an accident. My friend and I read his story online as I was struggling with anxiety and depression. My friend , Jeannie encouraged me to find him and call him. She thought I could use help dealing with my loss. I thought she was crazy.
Next thing I knew I was dialing his place of work (John Deere) and found out not only was he in the same state but only 2 hours away. His best friend answered the phone. After several questions as to why I was calling, he said he would leave Jay a message. I never thought I would here from him.
The next day I got a call. It was Jay! I explained how crazy it was for me to call but desperately needed to speak to him. I asked him why he called me back. He said he was intrigued and had never had a strange women call him. We both laughed. After days of talking we decided to meet in the town of Garden City, Kansas for dinner. That was the first day of the rest of our lives. Jay is the most wonderful man I have ever met and he took in my 2 children and has never looked back. After 6 months we moved and sold most of our things. We went to the courthouse in Glenwood Springs, CO and was married because we couldn’t afford a wedding or honeymoon. That was almost 15 years ago. We are struggling with our health but our love has only grown. Our kids have talked of having
A wedding for us but it hasnt worked out. How exciting it would be to win this as we have have wanted a real wedding. Through loss, hope and the strength of God we found one another and we truly believe that love never fails. ♡
