21 Sep, 2016

CP3O is a quartet of eclectic musicians whose influences range from the Beach Boys to Sonny Rollins to J.S. Bach. The band plays original compositions, unique arrangements of pop and jazz standards, and the occasional 80’s power ballad.

Vibraphonist Greg Harris is a member of Future Jazz Project, Bluegrass legend Pete Wernick’s Flexigrass, 9th & Lincoln Orchestra, and After Midnight Swing Band. He received a Master’s in Music Performance, Percussion at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Greg has traveled and studied Ghanaian xylophone and drumming in West Africa. He has toured and recorded with West African master musician Aaron Bebe Sukura, and toured internationally with banjo legend Pete Wernick’s FLEXIGRASS.

“My educational and early professional career began in the United States Army Band, where I performed for 3 years across the Pacific Northwest and Japan and was promoted to a sergeant. I then received my undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance from CU Boulder where I studied with Brad Goode, Art Lande, and John Gunther. In May 2012, I earned a Master’s in Jazz Performance from NYU, where I also served as an adjunct faculty member. During my time at NYU I studied with drummer Tony Moreno and brass guru Laurie Frink. These teachers helped me develop a deeper rhythmic understanding and refined my trumpet technique.

As a freelance trumpeter, I’ve performed with The Temptations, Juno winner Jayme Stone, Ryan Tedder of One Republic, Leftover Salmon, The Motet, and The New West Guitar Group. Since 2008, I’ve been performing Salsa and other Latin music with La Candela, Kizumba, Manuel Molina and other local bands.

In 2012, I recorded my debut album “Sweet Pastimes”, a duo project with acoustic guitar. The album features intimate ballads, jovial swing tunes, and bebop. In November of 2014, I began a jazz quintet focusing on collaborative compositions and rhythmic exploration. The project included a live, in-studio concert recording which I released in 2016, entitled “Live at Mighty Fine”. Since then, the Tom Gershwin Quintet has performed at jazz venues, festivals, and house concerts across the Front Range. In addition to my own albums, I have recorded alongside Jon Batiste, George Garzone, Jimmy Scott, Stefon Harris, Lenny Pickett, Adam Bartczak, and Don Grusin.”
